Saudi door to door, Why shipment is stuck in customs clearance for a Long Time?
This is a common concern for many shippers. Goods often need to go through multiple transportation stages such as sea freight or air freight before entering the customs clearance process. When a shipment remains in "pending customs clearance" status for a long time, it is usually caused by one of the following reasons:
Incomplete or Non-Compliant Documents: Customs authorities have strict regulations regarding the import and export of goods. If the documents are incomplete or do not meet requirements, the goods cannot be cleared smoothly.
Restricted Goods Categories: Some special types of goods may be subject to restrictions and require additional approval procedures, which can also cause delays in clearance.
Random Customs Inspection: Customs at the destination may randomly inspect shipments. If your shipment is selected for inspection, there’s usually no action you can take except to wait. Once the inspection is completed and no issues are found, the goods will be released. This process typically takes 1–3 business days.
Declared Value Issues: If customs believe that the declared value of the goods does not match their actual value—either too high or too low—this can delay clearance. Senders often under-declare value to reduce the recipient's customs duties. However, if the difference is too large, delays or even fines can occur. You may need to re-declare the value or provide proof of value if requested, especially when the actual value is accurate but customs challenges it.
