Saudi DDP, How much do you know about export customs declaration brand types?
When exporting goods overseas, you must fill out an export customs declaration form, which includes specifying the brand type. Customs authorities strictly crack down on infringing goods during inspections, and counterfeit products may be returned or destroyed. So, how should we select the brand type for declaration?
No Brand (Code: 0)
"No Brand" applies when the imported/exported products or packaging bear no logos, letters, or brand names. Goods with any letters or logos on their labels are considered branded and must be declared as such. Falsely declaring branded goods as "No Brand" will likely lead to rejection during customs inspection.
Domestic Self-owned Brand (Code: 1)
This is one of the most common types, referring to brands registered in China and used on goods produced and exported by domestic enterprises (e.g., Huawei, Gree). Note: Although Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are part of China, they are independent customs territories—brands from these regions are classified as foreign brands.
Domestically Acquired Brand (Code: 2)
This applies when a domestic enterprise acquires a foreign brand and uses it on goods they produce and export. Relevant acquisition proof and authorization documents must be provided.
Foreign Brand (OEM Production) (Code: 3)
Refers to goods produced domestically under a foreign-registered brand for international sales. The foreign brand owner authorizes a Chinese manufacturer to produce goods bearing their brand, with specifications provided by the client (e.g., Original Equipment Manufacturing).
Foreign Brand (Other) (Code: 4)
Covers all foreign brands not involving OEM arrangements. For example, using famous brands like Disney (Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck) requires explicit authorization from the brand owner. Unauthorized production constitutes infringement, and such goods will be detained or destroyed if discovered by customs.
