I. Mandatory Certification
Saudi Arabia has strict market access requirements for imported products. Furniture must obtain SASO certification to clear customs.
Scope of Certification: Covers almost all types of residential furniture, including wooden, metal, and fabric furniture.
Key Testing Items: Products must comply with Saudi safety, environmental, and fire resistance standards, such as formaldehyde emission levels, heavy metal content, and flammability tests.
Certification Process: Typically involves submitting samples for testing, obtaining a qualified test report, and then applying for the SASO certificate. The certificate must be provided during customs clearance.

II. Logistics and Customs Clearance
Saudi customs procedures are complex, and the logistics cycle is relatively long, requiring advance planning.
Customs Agent: Prioritize agents familiar with Saudi customs policies to avoid cargo delays due to incomplete documentation or procedural issues.
Shipping Method: Sea freight is the most common option. Ensure packaging is moisture-proof and impact-resistant, and allocate sufficient time for customs clearance (usually 1–2 weeks).
Labeling Requirements: Product labels must be bilingual in Arabic and English, indicating the product name, material, origin, SASO certification mark, and other relevant information.
