Advantages:
1.Low cargo volume threshold: It is suitable for transporting small-to-medium cargo volumes (less than 10 cubic meters). There is no need to bear full-container shipping costs, which can significantly reduce the one-time transportation cost. This solution is ideal for startup sellers or small-batch replenishment scenarios.
2.Simplified process coordination: Freight forwarders manage the entire LCL consolidation and customs clearance process in a unified manner. Small and medium-sized sellers do not need to handle complex procedures independently, thus saving labor and time costs.
3.High transportation flexibility: There is no need to wait until the cargo quantity meets the full-container requirement. Shipment schedules can be flexibly arranged based on inventory demands, which helps reduce the risk of inventory overstock.

Disadvantages:
1.Unstable transit time: Cargo needs to wait for consolidation at the warehouse and may go through sorting at transshipment ports during transit. The overall shipping duration is 3–7 days longer than that of full-container load (FCL) shipping, and it is easily affected by the progress of other consolidated cargo.
2.High risk of cargo damage: Multiple loading, unloading, and stacking processes during LCL shipping increase the risk of damage. Fragile or easily deformable items such as phone cases and data cables are particularly vulnerable.
3.Higher unit cost than FCL: Pricing is calculated based on cargo volume or weight. For long-term large-batch shipping, the comprehensive cost is 15%–30% higher than that of FCL shipping.
