Outer carton shipping marks for sea door-to-door shipments to Saudi Arabia must strictly comply with the 2024 new regulations issued by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) as well as customs requirements. Shipping marks are critical for customs clearance and final delivery; non-compliance will result in clearance delays, cargo return or fines. The core mandatory requirements fall into four key categories.

Language Requirements
Arabic is the compulsory primary language and may be supplemented with English. However, all warning statements and safety instructions must include Arabic text. Arabic font size shall be at least 1.2 times larger than the English font. Layout must follow the right-to-left writing convention of Arabic to prevent identification errors.
Mandatory Permanent Marking Content
All core information must be printed durably with no omissions: country of origin (marked "MADE IN CHINA" or its Arabic equivalent), consignee details, gross weight, net weight, carton numbers (sequential numbering required for multiple cartons), product name & specifications, and manufacturer/exporter information. Images, texts or patterns involving religious sensitivities, indecent content or pork-related elements are strictly prohibited. Double shipping marks are not allowed.
Compliant Transport Symbols & Label Materials
All warning pictograms must be printed in both Arabic and English and affixed on at least two adjacent sides of each carton. Wooden packaging must undergo fumigation and bear a valid IPPC mark. Direct printing of shipping marks is preferred. If adhesive stickers are used, they must be waterproof and highly adhesive to withstand marine transit conditions and avoid peeling or blurring.
