Full Container Loading Stacking Prohibitions & Rules for Shipping to UAE

08 Jul, 2026

For full containers dispatched from Dubai overseas warehouses to destinations within the UAE, shipments must strictly comply with local customs regulatory requirements and loading safety standards. Adhering to prohibitive goods regulations and stacking rules is critical to mitigating risks of customs detention and cargo damage.

First, prohibited goods must not be mixed into general container loads. UAE customs enforces stringent controls over restricted commodities:

  1. Religion-related items: Pork products, alcoholic beverages, pornographic materials, and goods originating from Israel are prohibited from entry and shall never be mixed into general cargo containers.
  2. Environmentally regulated items: The UAE implemented a single-use plastic ban in 2024. Single-use plastic straws, plastic food containers, and plastic bags thinner than 50 microns are banned from import. Concealing or mixing such items will result in full-container customs inspection and detention.
  3. Special restricted items: Unregistered pharmaceuticals, e-cigarettes, endangered wildlife products, and standalone lithium batteries without valid compliance certifications are classified as prohibited goods and cannot be loaded in general full containers.

Second, compliant cargo must follow stacking restriction guidelines:

  1. Overweight goods shall be placed at the bottom of containers. The weight of each pallet shall not exceed the pallet’s rated load capacity; heavy items with high point loads are forbidden from being stacked on upper layers.
  2. Fragile goods shall not be stacked over 1.2 meters in height, with a maximum of 3 stacking layers. They must not be placed in container corners or top areas subject to heavy compression.
  3. Flammable, explosive and chemical products must be shipped separately in dedicated compliant containers; mixing and stacking with general cargo in one container is prohibited.
  4. Goods of different batches and different clients shall be stored in separate zones with clear marking and separation. Random mixed stacking is forbidden, as it will disrupt warehouse receiving and last-mile delivery efficiency.

After container loading is complete, cross-check the cargo manifest against stacking labels to ensure full compliance with all rules for smooth customs clearance and final delivery.
