Specifications & Taboos for Neutral‑Packed Goods Exported to Saudi Arabia

18 Sep, 2026

For air‑cargo exports to Saudi Arabia with neutral packaging, strict compliance with local customs regulations and Islamic religious customs is required. Non‑compliant packaging can lead to customs clearance obstacles, cargo detention and even return shipment, which serves as a key note for exports to Saudi Arabia. Outer cartons for neutral packaging should be solid‑color plain boxes without any printing.

No brand logos, trademarks, advertisements or manufacturer information shall be displayed to maintain a fully unbranded neutral condition. The country‑of‑origin marking "MADE IN CHINA" shall be clearly printed. Product instructions, warning slogans and shipping marks are suggested to adopt Chinese‑English‑Arabic trilingual versions for recognition by local customs and operators. Meanwhile, packages shall be moisture‑proof, pressure‑resistant, neat and intact without damage or stains. Information on documents shall be completely consistent with package markings to meet the requirements of Saudi SABER clearance certification.

There are clear restrictions on graphics and texts for packaging. In terms of graphics, images of religiously forbidden animals such as pigs and dogs are strictly prohibited. Human portraits, revealing images and intimate‑scene illustrations are not allowed. Religious symbols including crosses, hexagrams and religious idols are forbidden. Large‑area dark‑green printing as well as weird and superstitious patterns should be avoided. In terms of text, Quran verses and religious slogans are banned. Words related to alcohol, pork and similar terms shall be eliminated. Unauthorized printing of certification logos such as SASO and SABER is prohibited.

Conduct item‑by‑item inspection on both inner and outer packaging before shipment and remove all restricted graphics and texts. Keeping packaging concise and compliant can lower customs clearance risks for Saudi air cargo and ensure smooth customs release.
